Travelling to Kingston, ON
Flight:
The closest major international airports are:
- Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)
- Ottawa International Airport (YOW)
Both cities offer direct train and bus connections to Kingston.
Train
VIA Rail Canada provides frequent train service from:
- Toronto → Kingston (approx. 2.5 hours)
- Ottawa → Kingston (approx. 2 hours)
- Montréal → Kingston (approx. 2.5–3 hours)
The Kingston train station is a short taxi or rideshare trip from campus.
Bus
FlixBus and Megabus offer intercity routes to Kingston from Toronto, Montréal and Ottawa.
Travel to Montréal for the ISME World Conference
Participants travelling from Kingston to Montréal for the ISME World Conference may use:
- VIA Rail Canada (multiple daily departures, approx. 2.5–3 hours)
- Intercity buses (limited schedules)
Montreal–Trudeau International Airport (YUL) is accessible via public transit, taxi, or shuttle services from central Montréal.
Travelling within Kingston, ON
- Kingston is a pedestrian-friendly city with easy access to restaurants, waterfront areas, cultural venues, and Queen’s University campus.
- Taxis and rideshare services (Uber, Lyft) are available throughout the city.
- Campus and seminar venues are within walking distance of main accommodation options.
- Information regarding dining options, accessibility, and local points of interest will be provided to participants closer to the seminar date.
Kingston offers a mix of historic architecture, lakeside views, museums, and cultural sites. Points of interest include:

- Downtown restaurants and cafés

Travelling within Ottawa
OC Transpo is the transit authority in Ottawa. There is a light rail line and bus routes. Please consult the OC Transpo website for more information.
Uber is widely available in Ottawa. There are also several taxi companies in Ottawa.
